Romans 8:6 “… to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
It seems to me that the Christian life would be much easier if we thought of Christ more often. Just as distant friends fade from our thoughts if neglected or ignored, so our connection to Christ is diminished. It has been said that ‘we become like what we set our hearts and minds upon.’ So it is, that by focusing on Jesus more frequently and more fully, we open ourselves to more of His influence and friendship. This friendship lifts us from despair to joy, from feeling useless, to being useful. To possess and cultivate the graces of the Spirit, to be led where He would guide us, is the design of our existence, and is the only path that leads to eternal life and peace.
So, "set your minds on things above, not on things of the earth." [Colossians 3:2]
