Read Matthew 16:25-26, and Luke 12:15
We ourselves are worth more than all that we can get. So, the Lord asks, “What shall a man give in return for his life?” and again He says, “one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
A fundamental challenge of life lies in our choice to cultivate strength and richness or to follow the advice of the Psalmist who said, ‘Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great riches and trouble therewith.” Remember that true richness is rooted in moral and spiritual quality.
It seems that for us, life is interesting only as it involves a striving for goodness against temptations, selfishness, or discouragement and despair. It is the ‘virtue’ that exists in the world that makes vice attractive to some; and if the world could exist without moral ideals, men would not want it. It would be dull and without purpose.
So, it is not the military might or the material wealth of the nation which ensures the stability of the Republic, but the Christian character of its citizens. Therefore, Christ says, [Luke 16:9 NLT] “Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends” in order to bring them to Christ.
