God loves us as we are. He never asks us to get rid of our baggage before He accepts us. He takes us as we are. To be sure, when He moves in and begins to rule in our lives, He cleans up a few things here and there. He erases the past through His forgiveness, and He begins working within us what is pleasing to Him. We are transformed over time by grace. But from the beginning at the very inception, and continually, and throughout eternity, we have a God who looks at us just as we are, and He says, “I love you.”
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
